This poor poster site in Waverley station seems to be cursed. First it housed some random monkeys now it seems to have been invaded by a simpleton. Somehow it’s funnier if r
ead in a German accent.
Hmmm. advertising that tries to be random - not a good look.
Not sure that this sends out entirely the right message

I’m about to set off on holiday for a week of festival frolics but thought I’d seize the chance before I go to hijack the blog for my own selfish ends. The above is my show. Well, it’s Owen McCafferty’s really. A leading contemporary Northern Irish playwright. This adaptation premiered in Belfast last autumn and this will be the Scottish premiere, for what that is worth. I am directing. More details can be found here. I’m also experimenting with Twitter. Ticket sales are going pretty well as it happens. So if you happen to be Edinburgh-way next Monday to Saturday at approx 8:15pm, please do pop in. We’d love to see you.
I just came across a youtube video on http://leithalinspiration.com/ It has rid me of my Monday blues. It’s slightly reminiscent of the Red Nose day charity dance-off we had earlier in the year and gives me a great idea for next years dance-off!!

An early morning viewing of the Evian ad featuring the peculiar dancing babies and Brie said anxiously:
“I sometimes find babies that dance and talk and stuff quite freakish.”
Only sometimes, eh?!
Nice quote from a chap called Simon Coker in a conference call yesterday.
“Design consistently reinforces the truth of the brand”
Of course, being a designer, he’s bound to say that. But still.

I’ve spied a couple of lovely new ads from Hula Hoops. The DJ is my particular favourite. They’ve backed it up with a great little website and the chance to make your own finger puppet film. Now there’s an achievable UGC idea.
As part of this year’s Leith Festival we asked Leith based amateur snappers to send in images they felt best defined their manor. To be fair we weren’t expecting a huge response but thanks to some publicity in The Leither and some cunningly placed promo material in local haunts we were inundated with 100 plus images.
The quality was top drawer and the best 30 shots or so were lovingly curated and turned into an exhibition by Babs on board the good Mary of Guise. The crowds then flocked in during the Festival to see how Leith had been faithfully captured by Leithers.
We particularly liked this one taken by Steven Taylor.
